Welcome Back ... Space Cowboy
On Friday, November 19th, Netflix released their Live-action Tv series based upon the 90's anime Cowboy Bepop. Live-action anime remakes have a horrible track record of disappointment. However, even the perfect remake will receive backlash from sentimental people.
Being the anime fan I am I have decided to watch this new rendition. There definitely have been changes made to increase the storyline and depth of the show. This version of Cowboy Bepop made ut very clear it is NOT just a remake. This version is based upon the original anime and _______. This leaves them with the freedom for these changes creatively.
*Spoilers*
Some of the main changes made are as small as changing a charter to be a father instead of just a grumpy ex-cop. The main character "spike" also has slight changes. The new show decided to say his old name was "fearless" which helps add to the main focus of this first season. So far, most of the changes seem to be in preparation for a show renewal to add more seasons.
There were vast differences between character backstories and plot in itself. The entire finale of the show was changed from how the Anime chose to end it. On that note, the anime had no plan to continue whereas this Netflix show probably wants more seasons. The show left various storylines that can be explored if they receive a renewal.
Does the villain actually die? Is this the end of Spike and the love of his life? Will Jet never see Spike again? Does Faye find out who she actually is? So many unanswered questions that can only get answered by a season 2.
